We are a non profit racing club that is geared towards family
and fun!  Our success in these two goals are proven by how many
entire families are involved at the Glen Morgan Track. The Race
track is a 1/4 mile asphalt road course and fast to get around. It
also incorporates a 1/8 mile Speedway oval.

Fastlane Endurance Charity Kart Race-January 21st, 2012

Racing for Smiles of the Northwest (RFSNW) will be holding their third annual “So you think you can Race?” endurance challenge at Fastlane, Boise on January 21st, 2012, at 9am.  This event will mark the second “Jeff Russell GP” as the proceeds from it go to this Boise racer’s recovery fund.  Critically injured in the fall of 2010 in an accident in The Las Vegas Speedway during practice for a super-modified race, Jeff has made steady progress but the road to full recovery is extremely long.

The challenge features up to 14 teams of up to 4 racers in a timed 2-hour event.  The entry cost per team is $300.  Each competitor gets a t-shirt, coffee from Starbucks, and lunch from Blimpies.  The event has been extremely well attended since inception; last year the grid was full and between racers and spectators there were approximately 100 people at Fastlane that morning.

As the karting pros in the valley and active members of the motorsports community, it would be great if SRK could have a team.  All drivers are eligible but those who do not hold a valid driver’s license must be approved by Fastlane—this hasn’t been a problem in past, but it’s a box that must be checked.

Several teams are already entered.  Terry Lawrence, Tim Lawrence, their mechanic Scott, and Stafford Smith have formed a team. The competition is extremely intense and it’s “interesting” with 14 karts on that track at once.  I will be on a team, too, consisting of friends from out of town, but we may have one open slot.

For more information feel free to email me @ or contact Ron Hayes (the organizer) on Facebook.  Kent.Smith@Galleria-RTS.com

Be sure to form a team soon as slots will fill up.

Thanks for your support!

Looking Down Track!

Sunday January 8th-2012 SRK Board of Directors meeting.

Updated 12-29-11

If you have any interest in becoming a board member this is the meeting you need to attend. Board members are selected on a "Show up" basis and all are welcome. The meeting will cover 2012 rules, board member responsibilities, 2012 financials, track maintenance, 2011 review and build the 2012 track schedule. It's by no means a full time job, one or two official meetings per year (unless more are needed). Board members shoudl be able to attend at least half of the club race events and try to attend or have some kind of representation at most club meetings. It's a great learning experience and if you want to help keep our club in good shape or even make SRK better going forward, this is another way to do so. Here is a quick run down of 2012 board member responsibilities.

On and off track decision making

Voting on track, club and rules issues.

Interpreting Club and IKF rules

Promoting fun, safety and cooperation in keeping with "The spirit of Competition"

Race day…track directing, officiating, resolving disputes, voting on the spot at race events.

The location..

Boise Schools Technical Educatin Center

8201 W. Victory Road.
