Engine/Chassis Regulations

ENGINE & CHASSIS REGULATIONS

 Update 2-20-2006

 All IKF engine and chassis rules apply as per IKF rulebook.

A. ALL CLASSES

  • 1. 2011 rear bumper must extend to middle of rear tires but may not extend beyond rear tires AS PER IKF.
  • 2. All 2 cycle classes must run an approved air box.
  • 3. All 2 cycle classes must run a muffler min. 12" x 3".
  • 4. 4 cycle: Mufflers will be required for all 4 cycle classes.
  • a. Only the RLV B91 muffler will be allowed. It must be completely intact and in working order.
  • b. All exhaust systems are subject to safety, and tech inspection.
  • c. All mufflers and exhaust pipes must be safety wired.
  • 5. Spec. pump gas, non-ethanol (Philips 66 and Tesoro)
  • 6. OPTION AGE Year: IKF rules specify, during the year a driver's Attained Age changes from one age group to another. The driver may race in either age group. Once the driver moves to the higher age group, they can no longer race in the lower age group.
  • a. More than 10 karts in a class.
  • i. If 10 or more karts in class split qualifying and heat.
  • ii. Qualifying in two groups split evenly on grid by racers or race steward.
  • iii. Heats split by time from qualifying groups A and B. Starts are inverted.
  • 1. A Heat odd numbers from qualifier (1,2,5, etc.)
  • 2. B Heat even numbers from qualifier (2, 4, 6, etc.)
  • 3. Combine qualifying and heat finish points. (tie to best qualifying)
  • 4. Group top 8 points totals go to main. Group Highest point total on pole. (etc)
  • 5. 9th, and lower go to consi.
  • 6. 1st, and 2nd finish from consi go to main starting 9th and 10th on grid respectively.
  • 7. Points awarded for finish of cons (3rd = 11th place main points, 4th = 12th place main points, etc) 

B.CLASS STRUCTURE

  1. KID KART: All Kid Karts will go through tech after second practice. This should not be confused with pre-race tech inspection as this is still required before entering the track for first practice.
    1. AGE:  5* - 8 years old Option year applies.
  • i. *Attained age of 5 years old.
  1.  
    1. MOTOR: 50cc Comer C-50 no modifications allowed: per I.K.F. Rule 622.50 C-50 Piston Port (Kid Kart Engine) Exhibition Class with Rule 622.51.14 Air Filter: K&N #RC-1250 or equivalent. Filter must remain unmodified. Chain and Gearing per Rule 622.51.20 (Comer 10t clutch, 219 chain and 89t Rear Sprocket.)
    2.  WEIGHT:  150 lbs.
    3.  FUEL:  pump gas/oil only.
    4. CHASSIS:  To be no longer than a cadet model, as per IKF.
  1. JUNIOR I:
    1.  AGE:  8 - 12 years old. Option year applies.
  • i. MOTOR: (Recommended)Briggs Animal Sportsman with IKF restrictor.
  • 1. WEIGHT: 250 lbs.
  • 2. FUEL: Gas only.
  • ii. MOTOR: STOCK Honda OHV 6.5 Advanced Flywheel Key allowed.
  • 1. WEIGHT: 250 lbs.
  • 2. FUEL: Gas only
  1. JUNIOR II:
    1.  AGE:  12 - 16 years old. Option year applies.
  • i. MOTOR: Honda OHV 6.5 Stock
  • 1. WEIGHT: 310 lbs.
  • 2. FUEL: Gas only.
  • ii. MOTOR: Briggs Animal Stock (Recommended)
  • 1. WEIGHT: 310 lbs.
  • 2. FUEL: Gas only.
  1. SENIOR CLONE: Senior Clone is a new lower cost entry level class introduced for testing in 2012. To keep the class low cost and fair, Snake River Karters have unique rules to govern this class. Engine tech will not be the primary means of regulation rather the class will have an engine claiming rule. We will update these rules as necessary. Keep in mind this is an entry level class and it is recommended that if you are just starting out to contact the club president or any other club officer with questions on where to start. All IKF chasssis rules apply. Basic club rule structure is as follows.
    1. Age 16 and up
    2. Clone Box Stock engine (as per IKF rules)
    3. Weight 350 lbs minimum
    4. Fuel, Gas Only

Clone Engine Claim Rule

The Club has the first right to claim/buy ANY engine in the clone class after the main event of that day for technical evaluation and retirement. 

The ability to claim an engine is based on:

1. Finishing position

2. Must be a paid club member in good standing. 

Claiming an engine:

1. 2nd place will have first right to claim the winning engine.

2. If 2nd does not choose to claim the winner, 3rd will have the next option

3. 4th place will have the next option if previous declines

4. 5th will have the last option if previous declines

5. There will be no ability to claim beyond the 5th place finisher.

 The claim fee is $150.00

The claimer will get:

1. The basic engine as raced

They will not receive:

1. The pipe and muffler

2. Clutch

3. Clutch guard

4. Top plate

5. Throttle linkage kit

6. Fuel pump

7. Main jet

8. The air filter and adapter  

9. Flywheel if it is billet. (highly recommended) 

Refusing to cooperate with the claiming process will result in immediate disqualification for the remainder of the year along with forfeiture of all points. 

  1. SENIOR 4 CYCLE:
    1.  AGE:  16 and up
      1. MOTOR:  Honda OHV 6.5 Stock
      2. WEIGHT: 370 lbs mnimum
      3. FUEL: Gas only 
    2. MOTOR:  Briggs Super Sportsman Animal (Recommended)
      1. WEIGHT: 370 lbs
      2. FUEL: Gas only.
  2. World Formula Heavy as per IKF
    1. Briggs World Formula
    2. Weight 390 lbs.
    3. Fuel, Gas Only
  3. STAR:
    1. AGE:  16 and up
    2. MOTOR:  Tecumseh 10hp.
    3. WEIGHT: 360 lbs.
    4. 370 lbs. for speedway
    5. FUEL:  Methanol only.
  4. FORMULA 80 JR.:
    1. AGE:  13* - 15 Years old. Option year applies.
    2. Competition age 13 with minimum 1 year competition experience.
    3. MOTOR:  CR80, CR85, KX80, RM80, YZ80, TM80.
    4. WEIGHT:  320 lbs.
    5. FUEL:  Gas/oil only.
    6. NO FRONT BRAKES ALLOWED
  5. FORMULA 80:
    1. AGE:  16 and up.
    2. MOTOR:  CR80, CR85, KX80, RM80, YZ80, TM80.
    3. WEIGHT:  360 lbs.
    4. FUEL:  Gas/oil only.
    5. NO FRONT BRAKES ALLOWED
  6. FORMULA 125 JUNIOR
    1. AGE: 13 TO 16
    2.  WEIGHT: 330 lbs
    3. FUEL: GAS/OIL ONLY
    4. MUST USE SKUZA EXHAUST RESTRICTOR
  7. FORMULA 125 SENIOR:
    1. AGE:  16 and up.
    2. MOTOR:  CR125, KX125, RM125, YZ125, TM125MX, Approved ICC 125cc Engines.
    3. WEIGHT:  385 lbs.
    4. FUEL:  Gas/oil only
  8. TAG  125:
    1. AGE:  16 and up.
    2. MOTOR: Rotax 125, approved 125cc TAG engines.
    3. WEIGHT:  370 LB
    4. FUEL:  Gas/oil only
    5. NO FRONT BRAKES ALLOWED
  9. OPEN (SPEEDWAY ONLY):
    1.  AGE:  16 and up.
    2. MOTOR:  Any 2 or 4 cycle listed IKF engine. No stock 5hp. Allowed.
    3. WEIGHT:  As per class listed.
    4. FUEL:  2 cycles gas/oil only. 4 cycle methanol only.
